Welcome to Focus Photography. We photograph people, their relationships, and the important moments throughout their lives.
We're three photographers, William von Wenzel, Lucia Razionale, and Alison Thomas, working in a boutique wedding and portrait studio located on the coast of Maine, in Portland's historic Old Port. We're neither a chain (like photographers at Walmart), nor operating out of our cars or garage (like the math teacher from school), nor a contracting service (like the hospitals newborn wards use, where every day a different person shows up to be the 'professional' photographer). It's just the three of us, and William is our principal photographer.
We opened our doors in 2005, when our cofounders, Will and Lucia returnded to Maine after ten years of shooting weddings, models, seniors and actors in the Los Angeles area. In Portland we opened a full service boutique studio, with a loft-style camera room, a comfortable projection room for our viewing and ordering, and plenty of room for our ever-expanding gallery of images.
To our core business of weddings and seniors, we've added a few more specialties as our clients have asked for it. Our brides became pregnant, and asked us to photograph their bellies. They had babies, children, and families. High school senior clients graduated college, got engaged, and then wanted us to shoot their wedding, and we start all over again.
Here's what was amazing - we were able to take William's style of photography, that he had spent the last decade developing, and apply that to babies and bellies, and children and families. And we can do this because all of our images share common features - artistic compositions, dramatic lighting, fashionable posing, and impactful tonality.
Over the past six years, Will and our studio have won more awards than our display case can handle. Will is still one of only six Nationally Certified Photographers in the state of Maine.
