Fo•cus n. pl. fo•cus•es
1. The concentration of attention or energy on something; "our photographer’s attention was focused on what we wanted". 2. The distinctness or clarity of an image rendered by an optical system; "the focus of the picture was crystal clear". 3. A condition in which something can be clearly apprehended or perceived. v. fo•cussed, fo•cus•ing, fo•cus•es 1. To cause (light rays, for example) to converge on or toward a central point; concentrate; "a magnifying glass focuses the sunlight to a hot pinpoint of light." 2. To render (an object or image) in clear outline or sharp detail by adjustment of one's vision or an optical device; bring into focus. 3. To adjust (a lens, for example) to produce a clear image- "the movie was blurred, so we shouted Focus!". 4. To direct toward a particular point or purpose: they focused all their attention on us.
