The Landing at Pine Point Wedding of Ashley and Mike

The Landing at Pine Point Wedding of Ashley and Mike

If you’ve seen any of our recent wedding posts, you’ll know that I love asking the bride and groom to tell us about their wedding memories.  Ashley and Mike had a lot to say about their wedding day, and their answers are below – I hope you’ll read them.  But first, here are my ten favorite images from the day:

A great event, even if you only see ten pictures, right?  Okay, here’s the rest of the day:

So Ashley, that was a stunning dress.  What can you tell us about it?

I chose a lace strapless mermaid-style dress from Andrea’s. The dress was actually the first dress I tried on, but it took the approval of my bridesmaids to make it the official one.  My gown, as well as all the bridesmaid dresses, came from Andrea’s Bridal in Portland, the girls there are so wonderful to work with, and they even lent me shoes for my first fitting with my seamstress because mine were not in yet. I really can not say enough good things about them!

I decided that my jewelry was going to be my something old, new, borrowed, and blue. My Mom lent me my grandmothers white gold and pearl brooch and matching earrings, which I actually wore in my hair. Mike bought me these beautiful diamond and blue topaz earrings for my something new and blue. I absolutely loved them!

Amy from Acapello in Scarborough, did my hair, and did an amazing job! She was so cute, because when I got there in the morning, I told her I didn’t sleep the night before because I was too excited, then she told me she didn’t sleep either, because she was way too excited about doing my hair… that’s commitment! Acapello also did the rest of the girl’s hair including my moms!

Laurel Wiley did my makeup, she’s amazing and clearly very talented! She made me look gorgeous and got rid of any dark circles under my eyes!

I actually got some great advice to make sure I picked flowers that were in season during my wedding. That’s how I found delphiniums and hydrangea and picked my colors of blue and purple from those options. My florist, Jason from Sawyer and Company….really just ran with the rest of it and made everything look beautiful!

The Cathedral is hands down gorgeous, which is one of the reasons why we wanted it. When Mike and I first moved to Portland, I told him that’s where we were going to get married… it only took three more years until it happened.

I was a waitress at Margaritas and one night I caught a cute guy totally checking me out from the bar. I asked around and found out he was good friends with the bartender, Dani, and asked her to set me up… Little did I know Mike had actually totally scoped me out a week before…we met the following weekend and have been together ever since.

So you spent the day being photographed by Lucia and I.  How did we do?

Will and Lucia have been great from the start. They were fun and were great about joking with the wedding party and making everyone feel comfortable with taking pictures. My mom really enjoyed them and also said they did a great job managing the families and taking the pictures…Will and Lucia were awesome with the formals in the church and ran through it quickly because it was so hot, they also got some great shots of us in the Park together and with our bridal party, and most importantly didn’t make us late for the reception!

You had your reception at one of our favorite venues – the Landing at Pine Point.  How did you choose them?

It was actually a complete fluke that we found The Landing, we got kicked out of our first venue because they decided to close for renovations. But we now say it was meant to be… I loved that it was an old church that had been re-vamped, and everyone did a great job in making it look beautiful!

We worked with Kathleen from Black Tie Company (who coordinates all the Landing weddings), she was awesome and had the patience of a saint with all my last minute changes…  Everyone said the food was good – my favorite was the bacon wrapped scallops.

The cake was lemon with a blueberry filling, made by Black Tie Catering.  I told Mike on the way up to cut the cake that if he smashed it in my face I would divorce him after the reception, so luckily he was very sweet about it.
